Record-Breaking $200,111 Jackpot Win at Slotland

No mortage payment worries for progressive jackpot winner

March 20, 2008 (London, UK) – Anticipated for weeks, the progressive jackpot at Slotland.com has just been hit for a record-breaking $200,111 (€150,980). A player at the all slots and video poker site, known as “FORGOMO”, hit the historical jackpot on the always-popular Heavy Metal slot machine. “I never dreamed I’d pay off my mortgage with an online slots win,” said the ecstatic jackpot winner. “I just make small bets and win a few dollars once in awhile. Now, let’s just say I’m not going to lose any sleep over my credit card balance!” FORGOMO was a regular player at Slotland several years ago but until he started playing regularly again about a month ago he hadn’t spun the reels for quite awhile. Obviously he’s glad he came back! This incredible progressive jackpot breaks the record set last March when a Canadian player won $195,083 (€126,910). He was playing a Slotland favourite, Treasure Box. Slotland’s last big jackpot win was in December when a player known as ZONARIZ won $110,125 (€87,728) playing one of Slotland’s popular video poker games, Striking 7s. Since the Slotland jackpot is won every six weeks or so last year, many players have felt this win was long overdue for weeks. The winner isn’t sorry it took so long and is quite happy to win it when it had had time to build to the largest jackpot ever at Slotland. Heavy Metal, one of 16 unique games tied to the Slotland progressive jackpot, is a three-wheel, four-payline slot machine game. Any payline with has a bet placed on it can win. It is the first slot machine ever that allows players to place bets on their game history. While Slotland jackpots aren’t the biggest on the internet, they are hit so frequently that they are always popular with online slots players. Last year, Slotland awarded nearly a million dollars in progressive jackpot wins. Slotland’s 3D online casino site, WinADay.com, has a separate progressive jackpot of its own that’s currently well over $150,000. Slotland.com currently features thirteen unique slot machines and three video poker games. Four of the most popular online slot machines and two video poker games are also available on mobile phones and PDAs. All of Slotland’s games give players the option of placing a maximum bet for a chance at the progressive jackpot. All of the slots and video poker games on the mobile network are also tied to the same jackpot pools. Slotland is available in Spanish at Es.Slotland.com. San Jose reaches deal on poker rooms

SAN JOSE, California -- As reported by San Jose Mercury News: "San Jose and its two card rooms have tentatively settled long-running lawsuits stemming from the city's attempt a decade ago to restrict gambling.

"The proposed settlement, which the City Council will consider March 24, would allow the Garden City and Bay 101 clubs to continue 24-hour operations but would limit individual gamblers to 20 consecutive hours at the tables. Secondary 'back-line' betting also will continue with monitoring by the city. And the clubs will provide more than $3 million for charitable programs to alleviate gambling-related social problems.

"...City Attorney Rick Doyle agreed the settlement 'is a win-win' for both sides, providing San Jose additional gambling regulations while avoiding the uncertainty of a trial, where a defeat could have proved costly to taxpayers. The clubs also will continue paying fees to cover the city's monitoring costs, though those costs will be reviewed. Those fees were most recently $24,000 and will stay at that level for another year under the settlement.

"Assuming the council approves it, the settlement will end a legal odyssey that began in 1999 under then-Mayor Ron Gonzales, who pushed for a set of city gaming regulations that spawned a half-dozen lawsuits..."

Online gambling a safe bet despite downturn - industry

BRUSSELS -- As reported by Reuters: "Europe's online gambling companies should buck the economic downturn with around 10 percent growth in revenues this year, the chief executive of the European Remote Gambling Association said on Monday.

"'The online betting market is coping very well with the slowdown and is bucking the trend,' Clive Hawkswood told Reuters in an interview.

"...Last month, Britain's top two bookmakers Ladbrokes and William Hill both posted a rise in profits.

"...Bookmakers are widely regarded as being less vulnerable than other retailers to the recession given the habitual nature of gamblers, but many punters are switching to the internet, forcing traditional high street betting shops to close..."

Have you made use of in-play betting?

Tuesday 3rd March 2009

One of the biggest phenomena of the online betting market over the last two years has been the growing popularity of in play betting which is now being offered by a growing array of betting exchanges. However, many online casino gamblers appear unaware of this extremely attractive option which can see bets placed and laid while an event in event is in play taking advantage of short-term situations which may arise. But have you tried in play betting?

There are many sports which are suitable for in play betting but by far and away the more popular in the UK are football and horse racing. The ability to bet on how a football game will finish opens a vast number of opportunities to place and lay bets while the game is in play taking advantage of the ever fluctuating odds. As the end of the game approaches there can be a wide fluctuation in the odds for a home win, draw or away win and if you're brave enough and have done your homework there can be some very lucrative returns to be made.

The same can be said of horse racing if you do your homework, and realise that a particular jockey or a particular horse often comes good at the end of a race, you can take advantage of more attractive odds as the race comes to a close, just prior to your horse making a move.

So who will finish second in the English Premier league?

Tuesday 3rd March 2009

As Manchester United continue to pull away from the chasing pack their appears to be more fun and casino games in guessing who will finish second in the Premier league rather than who will be the eventual champion, with Manchester United now odds-on. This weekend we saw Chelsea leapfrog rivals Liverpool with Aston Villa not far behind and a poor Arsenal team dropping off the pace. So who will finish second, assuming that Manchester United win the Premier league?

The clever money seems to be on Chelsea having a last gasp push as the season comes to a close although it would be foolish to write off a Liverpool team who have been scoring goals for fun prior to the last three or four weeks. Interestingly the internal bickering at Liverpool seems to be coming to an end and manager Benitez appears to be on the verge of signing a new long-term contract. Will this see his team more focused in the final few weeks of the season?

Those who write off Aston Villa do so at their own risk even know Martin O'Neill's team have hit a bad patch over the last couple of weeks. However, it seems as though a rejuvenated Chelsea appear to have hit form at the right time and look favourites to finish second behind champions elect Manchester United.
